Did anyone say tapas? Ohyeees please!
When you come to Ibiza not just for the parties, then certainly because of these super tasty little spanish snacks called tapas, that you eat mostly for dinner with some friends in a cozy mediterranean restaurant. Tapas are typical spanish savoury dishes, that you normally take at a bar to a refreshing cocktail or a glass of wine.
During my last years on the magical island of Ibiza i had enough time to check out the best tapas bars on the island and today i will present you my absolute top 5:
Little Ibiza Figueretas
One totally crazy spot you can find at the boardwalk of Figueretas, which is located between Ibiza town and Playa d´en Bossa, is Little Ibiza. Here you can really get an impression about what “big” Ibiza is all about, namely the free spirit, the hippy movement, chilled music and good vibes. If you walk down at Figueretas beach you will recognize a freaky looking venue with special coloured umbrellas and hippy decoration. Their friendly stuff will directly welcome you at Little Ibiza and serve you some delicious tapas and refreshing cocktails to reasonable prices while you can chill and watch the world go by.
Tapas Restaurant & Lounge Bar
This restaurant, which you can find in a side road of Linekers in San Antoni de Portmany, overtakes the basic philosophy of tapas (sharing small plates with friends) and combines it with creative new dishes and a wonderful atmosphere. In addition to the super tasty menu with different kind of tapas and fresh salads, they also have a wide range of selected sorts of wine, extremely spectacular mixed cocktails, good beer and international spirits. The prices are pretty good for the quality you get and they even offer daily specials. One of the dishes you definitely need to try out is the whole baked Camembert, which is the absolute top customer favourite, like it is mine! It is the perfect fit to other tapas plates like the Patatas Bravas and some bread and alioli. Cannot resist!
La Bodega
La Bodega is a super chilled mediterranean restaurant in Ibiza Town right next to the stone rampway that goes up to Dalt Vila. This unpretentious eatery, starting from 6pm till late, is known for its high quality food combined with an extremely friendly service. Especially amongst locals and Ibiza regulars, this restaurant with its authentic setting is super popular because it is the perfect place to enjoy some selected specialities from Ibiza and an heavenly good wine. In earlier days, this historic building has been a Ibicenco storehouse, from where it has now its traditional charm from. I always come back to this cozy and unique place, because i absolutely fell in love with it when i came here for the first time 3 years ago! In addition to the town local, you can also find another La Bodega in Talamanca, which is perfect for all who prefer to dine by the sea with a wonderful view at Ibiza´s oldtown. There you will get the same delicious menu but in a more chilled and tropical ambience. Soon, they will also open up a nice little cocktail bar, next to La Bodega Ibiza. Definitely a new spot for me that i will check out this summer!
Can Terra
This place is definitely one you also should not miss to visit when you come to Ibiza! This modern local is also situated in Ibiza town near KFC and Pull&Bear and offers super delicious Pintxos, which are small Basque tapas that get served on white bread. All parts of the Pintxos will be held together by a little cocktail stick and normally the different sorts get offered in form of buffet at the bar. Best time to come is around 6.30 pm, when they put out the fresh Pintxos and you still get a seat for dinner. Later in the evening it can be super busy, so better make a reservation or come there early! But this place is also quite popular for a quick coffee in the early mornings and what i really like about the concept of Pintxo bars is that it is perfect to socialize and get into contact with new people.
Bar Anita
Last but not least i want to tell you about my absolute top favorite bar on the whole island to get some delicious tapas. Anita´s Bar is located at a corner of the little village San Carlos, which you can find around 15 minutes north of Santa Eularia des Riu. Almost every house in San Carlos is all in white, what makes this mediterranean village so attractive to me. Holiday vibes guaranteed! Over 50 years now, this chilled restaurant with its amazing charm has been serving typical spanish dishes and drinks. What i also would highly recommend you to try out after your tapas, is Anita´s own special hierbas, a typical island liqueur made from around 16 different ingredients. I really love this place and come back there every summer. I am still always overwhelmed by its charming and welcoming atmosphere and its authentic Ibiza look. When i go there for dinner then also especially because of its socializing ambience. It is super easy to get in contact there with locals, which creates my personal “here-i-am-home-feeling”.
