In the rather cold and damp winter on Ibiza, the island shines every day anew with its magical sunrises and colourful sunsets. At this time of year, at the end of winter, the sun rises at around 07:00 in the morning on the east coast and sets at around 19:00 on the west coast.
It is worthwhile for morning grouches to get up early to watch this natural spectacle. You will be enchanted by the magical light when the bright colours shine in the blue sky. It is not to be missed! Many yoga lovers catch the first rays of the day with a few yoga exercises and enjoy this special moment in nature together.
Here are some tips for places to watch sunrises:
Aguas Blancas: A very natural, small sandy beach along a cliff. Many people take the opportunity to bathe in the mud there.
Cala Nova – Es Canar to Cala Pada: Beautiful coves and footpaths along the beach. There are several chiringuitos and restaurants where you can also have breakfast. Cala Nova bay is known for its waves and is therefore very popular with surfers and kite surfers.
Santa Eularia beach promenade: Here you can stroll leisurely along the sea at any time. Especially in the morning to enjoy the first rays of the day with a good coffee. Whether in the harbour or at the water fountain, you have an unobstructed view of the sunrise from everywhere.
Talamanca: One of the most popular meeting places near Ibiza Town to start the day with a good breakfast and the sunrise. The hostal in Talamanca is open all year round and you can sit there with your feet in the sand and just relax.
Playa dén Bossa – Figueretas: If you turn night into day and dance in one of the many clubs in Playa dén Bossa, you may be greeted by a breathtaking sunrise when you come out of the club early in the morning. Take the opportunity to enjoy a short walk along the beach. An unforgettable experience!
Talamanca Salinas Kumharas Cala Comte
The sunsets are best seen on the west coast in winter:
Salinas – Experimental Beach: Already when driving there, the view over the nature reserve and the salt flats with reflecting sun rays amazes us. Experimental Beach is closed in winter, but it is still one of the most beautiful spots to watch the sunset. You can see the top of Es Vedrá and with the big pebbles on the beach, it creates a really magical atmosphere. You can walk up the hill and have a perfect view of the sunset.
Mirador Es Vedrá – Hippie Cave: Following the west coast, we come to one of the most popular viewpoints of Es Vedrá. You have to park the car at the road and walk a small path through the forest to the cliffs. The path is rewarded with a breathtaking view of the magical rock of Es Vedrá. If you walk a little further up the mountain on the left, you will find a cute little hippie cave where you can enjoy a very romantic sunset for two.
Cala Comte – Cave: The famous sunset in Cala Comte is a legendary meeting place even in winter when the Sunset Ashram is closed. If you just continue past the large car park to the back of the cliffs, you will find a large unusual cave to go down into. A truly exceptional place to end the day.
Kumharas & Hostal La Torre – San Antonio: If you want to enjoy a cocktail with good music and a perfect sunset, the best place to go in winter is Kumharas in Cala de Bou. There are various street food offers and the ears are also pampered with pleasant sounds from the local Dj’s. A very special sunset location similar to Hostal La Torre in San Antonio. Here, too, you can sip great cocktails in winter while listening to chilled music at sunset. The view is truly breathtaking!
Drummer’s Beach – Benírras: Even if you don’t have the sun directly in the bay in winter, it’s worth going to Benírras for sunset. The restaurants are closed, but the hippies still like to drum and dance into the sunset every day. There is a homely and spiritual atmosphere on the beach where everyone is welcome!
